A Costly Nuisance, A Simple Solution

Recently I read about a virus that causes unwanted prints (http://www.redorbit.com/news/technology/1112644037/office-printers-succumb-to-virus/). Although I think we should focus on Dwight Schrute from “The Office” as the source of the virus (he’s a paper salesman if you’re not a fan of the show), now that the virus has infected machines it got me thinking about how AXIAR can help:

-        AXIAR prevents unwanted prints by holding jobs;
-        Thresholds can be set up to enable prints for (say) jobs of less than 20 pages automatically but hold jobs with 20 or more pages;
-        An email alert can be sent to the job originator as well as a System Administrator who has access to the jobs on hold;
-        AXIAR collects metrics about user print requests and volumes, easily allowing you to identify who is sending the offending print jobs.

If you have not done so already, this situation could be a good time to assess user print volumes. The data from this assessment can tell you the best way to use your print resources and the optimal way to configure AXIAR to manage print streams. We would be happy to assist you with any assessment or implementation considerations – simply contact us to discuss your requirements. At a minimum, using AXIAR can help reduce wasted prints and identify if someone has a virus that is forcing prints.
